A Thank You Note from The Reverend Susan Moss

Dear people of St. Mary’s:

It is now my turn to cross a threshold, saying goodbye as your Transition priest while remaining your friendly neighbor and fellow colleague in ministry in the East Metro Mission Area. I join you in your excitement and joy in welcoming The Rev. Lindsey Briggs as your new rector.

I invite those unable to be present on May 1 for worship and the 2022 Annual meeting, to listen to my final sermon. You’ll find the link HERE.

Thank you for the gorgeous basket of flowering bulbs. The volume of lectionary readings is a welcome gift in liturgy planning. And I so appreciate the generous gift card from Highland Nursery. In September, our son and his fiancé will be married in our yard. I will use your gift to create beauty and life for their wedding.

May the blessing of God who creates life be upon you as you celebrate life.
May the blessing of God who restores life be upon you as you seek new life.
May the blessing of God who sanctifies life be upon you as you give life to others.

Susan
The Rev. Susan M. Moss

St. Mary’s 2022 Annual Meeting Wrap-Up

Thanks to everyone who attended our 2022 Annual meeting on May 1, either in-person or online. Here are the highlights:
  • We expressed our gratitude to our wonderful staff, music director Vonda Humburg, youth minister Mia Lisa Millares and youth group leader Kat Lewis for all that they do.
  • We thanked outgoing vestry members Cindy James, Jim Wheeler and Lisa Stratton for their service.
  • We thanked Rex Holzemer (treasurer) and Jennie Ward (clerk) as they step out of those roles for all of their contributions, and welcomed Catherine Neuschler as our new treasurer and Aimee Sutherland as our new clerk.
  • We offered our appreciation to the search team for all of their work over a year and a half through some difficult challenges so that we can now be on the cusp of our next rector starting in a matter of weeks.
  • Elections:
    • Nina Johnson was elected as our new co-warden
    • Cathy McNaughton, Julie Thomas and Anna Clark were elected to the vestry.
    • Paulette Briese and Nina Johnson will represent St. Mary’s as delegates to the ECMN annual convention, and Julia Nerbonne and Julie Thomas will be alternates.
    • Jim Wheeler was elected to the Endowment Committee.
  • Finally, we expressed our gratitude for all that Rev. Susan Moss has done for St. Mary’s during her time as our transition priest. It was such a gift that Susan was willing to work with us over a much longer stay than we all had planned. Her wise guidance and thoughtful insights were so helpful as St. Mary’s navigated some challenging times. Susan’s last day with St. Mary’s is May 7. Thank you, Susan!

Outreach

KIVA Update
On Good Friday, a soup supper was held to support St Mary’s efforts to provide loans to people around the world through the KIVA organization. Delicious soups and bread were enjoyed by all and $560 was collected to add to the $1480 that had been re-paid by those who received loans from St. Mary’s earlier. Totaling these up, $2040 was available to be loaned. Thank you to all who joined us for soups. And thank you to those of you who donated.

New loans were made in 13 different countries: El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Kyrgyzstan, Philippines, Palestine, Kenya, Berkina Faso, Ecuador, Madagascar and Rwanda; and to 16 individuals or groups; for sewing traditional clothing, making ice cream, farming, raising sheep, selling fish and cell phones and beer and candy and for home construction, toilets, pig farms, fertilizer and seeds. Making a difference around the world….
