Isaiah Updates

Come join with people from Isaiah and friends from St Mary’s as we make our voices heard at the Minnesota State Capitol. Each week during the legislative session there are opportunities to show up and speak with our legislators about the issues that matter to all Minnesotans. Our legislators really want to hear from us and encourage conversations on the issues.  It might sound scary but it’s really a fun, affirming and powerful.

YES! Protect the Healthcare Provider Tax

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM , State Capitol, Rotunda

Join us and other health care allies at the Rotunda Sunshine Rally. Learn more about Minnesota’s health care provider tax. Hear from Minnesotans who understand how critical affordable health care is for our families and neighbors to live and thrive. Then join us in talking to legislators about why health care is important to you and your neighbors. Dress for Spring — wear floral shirts, sunglasses and sun hats! Visit the event page.

YES! Transportation Forward’s Transportation Day on the Hill

1:00 PM – 5:00 PM , State Capitol, Rotunda

Let’s make statewide funding for clean transportation options a top priority this legislative session! Gather in the Rotunda to hear from leaders and partner organizations, and visit legislators to share  why investments in transit, biking, and walking are important. Visit the event page.

Jobs Committee Hearing: Paid Family & Medical Leave + ESST + Wage Theft

PUBLIC HEARING

Tuesday, March 26, 2019 5:30 PM –  7:30 PM CT

State Office Building, 100 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Saint Paul, MN 55155

Seeing the first smile of a newborn baby; holding hands at the hospital with a sick family member; comforting loved ones at the end of life; being able to heal and get well – Paid Family and Medical Leave Act let’s this happen without sacrificing a paycheck. It’s a simple, fair and widely popular state-administered program where everyone contributes – both employees and employers – and everyone benefits – families, workers and businesses. This would not only alleviate the disparities across race and class, but also among small businesses that are disproportionately impacted by not having a statewide paid time to care program.

Kids Count on Us Legislative Action Day

Monday, March 25, 2019 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Minnesota State Capitol
We believe that every child has a right to an early education. Come join parents, teachers, providers, and kids at the Capitol. The event will begin with a rally in the Rotunda.  Then, through visits, we will call on our legislators to address Minnesota’s childcare crisis, to fund childcare assistance, and to stand up against islamophobia.
