SUMMARY:Summer Connect: 3 Days of Service and Fun
DESCRIPTION:Click here to register \nWe’re asking people to register no later than May 1st. If you need more time for recruitment than that\, let us know — but we’d need firm numbers no later than late May/very early June so that we can let service sites know\, make sure we have appropriate transportation\, etc.\nCost: We’re making a suggested donation of $30/day per kid to cover food and the activity costs. If this is a barrier for your youth\, let us know if you can cover them\, OR talk to us and we can see where the three of us are on our budgets — we want this to be accessible.\nSafe Church adults: We’d LOVE to have youth from any of your churches. If you end up with young people coming\, please send a Safe Church adult with every 3 kids who you’re sending so we can make sure we have enough adult hands on deck.\nPlan for the 3 days: Here is our plan for the 3 days (a few details for Monday being hashed out\, but mostly we know the plan!) \nMonday\, July 20th\n• Arrive at St. Clement’s at 9am\n• Leave St. Clement’s at 9:30am\, go to EITHER Department of Indian Works OR St. Christopher’s\n• 10am to 12pm – Work at Department of Indian Works food shelf or St. Christopher’s Giving Garden (plus maybe an in-house something at St. Christopher’s)\n◦ Lunch wherever we serve\n• 12 to 1pm – Lunch\n• 1pm to 4:30pm – Como Pool is open starting at noon\n◦ $7/person for group\n◦ Bring money for a snack\n• Bad weather option:\n◦ Sky Zone ($24/per person)\n• Back to St. Clement’s at 4:45pm\, pickup at 5pm \nTuesday\, July 21st (Good Courage Farm) \n• Arrive at St. Clement’s at 9am\n• Leave St. Clement’s at 9:15am\n• At Good Courage ~10:30am to ~2:30pm\n◦ Gather and hospitality\n◦ Land acknowledgement (a confession and honoring those who care for the land)\n◦ Teach us a song\n◦ Lectio divina on a passage (maybe the garden where the owner wants to cut down the tree and the gardener says\, let’s give it one more year. . . )\n◦ Work for an hour and a half.\n◦ Worship in the Silo Chapel\n◦ Have lunch/hang with the animals/ play games\n• On the way home\, ice cream stop for ~1 hour\n• Arrive back at St. Clement’s for 5pm pickup \nWednesday\, July 22nd (Bus Day!)\n• Arrive at St. Clement’s at 9am\n• Leave St. Clement’s at 9:30am\, take the bus to First Nations Kitchen\n• ~10:30am – First Nations Kitchen – various gardening jobs\, cleaning\, maintenance type jobs\n• 12pm to 1:30pm – Take the bus to lunch at Midtown Global Market (everyone gets $15 to spend\, bring any extra if you’d want to spend more than that)\n• 1:30pm to 4pm – Take the bus to Walker Sculpture Garden to look at sculptures and play games in the park\n• ~4pm\, bus back to St. Clement’s\n• OPTIONAL: Close with Pizza Church at St. Clement’s (with families) at 5:30pm
