So, you’re curious.
Maybe you are looking for a place to worship. Maybe you are looking for friends. Maybe you are wanting to work alongside others for the healing of the world. Maybe you want your child to be raised in a church community. Maybe someone has passed along a podcasted sermon or talked about the people in this church.
But maybe you’re skeptical. You’ve been hurt by churches before. You think all churches are only after your money. You think that church people are hypocritical. You’re pretty sure your ideas about God are ‘out there’ and so you think that you and your ideas won’t be welcome.
Any of these ring a bell?
Well, all we can say is this. We believe that God’s table is welcome to all people – all people, without exception. We believe that God loves everyone. We believe that God has given each of us gifts needed for the healing of the world. We believe that a life lived in community is deeper and richer than living in isolation.
We are not perfect. We are all in our own way trying to do the best we can with what we have. No need for perfection or pretenses here. We are all in some ways, as Rachel Held Evans said once, a “hot mess. Choosing a church is just choosing which hot mess is your favorite”.
