We love our Tweeners!
1/3 of the congregation is under the age of 18, and we welcome them fully into the life and ministry of our community. “Tweeners” is the name we give to the 4-6 graders.
Tweeners gather once a month for fun activities. The point of Tweeners is to develop church friendships, and they do that through social things like ice skating, rock climbing, bowling, crafts, etc. For more information or to get on the email list, reach out to MiaLisa.
Sunday School! From 10-10:30am they can join other older children for bible story, snack, crafts or drama, and prayers. Our program is non-cumulative, so they can drop in and not feel like they’ve joined the party mid-stream. For more about that Sunday School, go here.
Episcopal Music Camp is a fun-filled week with other Episcopal kids from around the Episcopal Church in Minnesota. It’s usually held mid-July.
Once a hear we put on a Children’s Musical, which is great fun! In years past we have done David and Goliath, 100% Chance of Rain (the story of Noah) and Queen Esther. Singing, dancing, costumes, showy finish, it’s got it all! Our 10:30 Music Director is in charge of the production, which happens each winter, post-Christmas and pre-Easter.
Every Christmas we hold the Christmas Pageant, and children are welcome to participate at any age. Rehearsals begin in Sunday school in
December, with one dress rehearsal the Saturday before the play, which is held the Sunday before Christmas Eve. We also hold a Children’s Easter Vigil every Holy Saturday, where these older children re-enact bible stories for younger children, and we celebrate the first Easter Eucharist.
Looking to read some Bible stories together? Our favorite bibles, appropriate for each age, arehere.
Know that we have gone out of our way to make sure that St. Mary’s is a safe place to be, through our Safe Church Training programs.
If we have missed any of your questions, or to find out more about when things are happening, feel free to reach out to MiaLisa Millares our Children’s and Youth Coordinator.
