Books about Christianity and the Episcopal Church

There are a lot of ways Christianity has branched over these thousands of years.  There are something like 7,000+ Christian denominations in the US alone.  Here are some books about church, theology, and spirituality that I trust

Screen Shot 2017-11-15 at 9.07.06 PMThe Underground Church – Robin Meyers.  I hand this book out like candy.  Rev. Meyers describes the church I want to be a part of, a church I would give my life to . . .

Screen Shot 2017-11-26 at 9.11.57 PMPhyllis Tickle is the “Grand Dame” of the Emergence Movement, and wrote one of the most articulate books on what’s happening in the church now, it’s called the Great Emergence.  Also good are Emergence Christianity and the Age of the Spirit.

Screen Shot 2017-11-15 at 9.11.40 PMLove Wins – Rob Bell.  Bell writes with wit and insight.  I give his books to teenagers especially.  He tackles the big theological questions with wit and insight. Also good are What We Talk About When We Talk About God; Jesus Wants to Save Christians; Sex and God; Drops Like Stars; and the ZitZum of Love.

covid 19 update

This page may not reflect St. Mary’s current programming, as we continue to emerge from the pandemic. As of June 2021, for example, we have both in-person and Zoom options for attending our Sunday 10:00 a.m. worship service.

Our decisions about how to conduct activities at St. Mary’s are guided by our belief that it is our duty to care for one another as children of God, as well as by guidance from the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota.
