Millennial Development Goals(MDGs)
What are the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)?
Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Committee
3rd Sunday of each Month 11:15am 12:30pm
Everyone is welcome!
Throughout the year, the MDG Committee strives to raise awareness of the issues behind the MDGs and point out opportunities for making the MDGs a reality. These monthly events can involve youth activities, interactive displays, lectures, or micro-lending dinners. We work with the other peace and justice teams at St. Mary's as well as the diocesan MDG Committee.
One of the tenets of the MDGs is that world poverty can be halved if ever country, congregation, and person donates 0.7% of their yearly income to MDG efforts. At St. Mary's we take this seriously. In 2007, we donated 0.7% of our parish income to purchase shares in a well, to help with the clean water and sanitation needs. In 2008, we will decide as a parish how to spend our 0.7% donation.
