This school, located right here in Merriam Park, serves an economically poor and racially diverse population. It has tested lowest in math and near the lowest in reading in theDistrict and has not been showing adequate yearly progress. A new partnership has been formed between St. Mary's, Olivet Church and Longfellow Elementary School where volunteers from St. Mary's and Olivet provide weeklytutoring in math and reading to students ofLongfellow. We are very excited about this new project as we feel strongly that each child has the right to learn and grow and have the opportunity to reach his or her true potential.
