Mechanics of Pledging at St. Mary's

This page will give you some basic info of ways that you can contribute financially to the good things God is doing through this community.

Pledging

Every fall we hold a pledge drive. This means we ask for a promise that during the coming year we can expect to receive a certain amount of money
from you. Thatway our vestry can make a reasonably accurate budget. Some time in October or so you will receive a letter and a blue pledge card from the Stewardship Chairperson, and are asked to return it to the church either in the plate on a Sunday or simply mail it in. We'll also have cards lying around the church, and you can always call or email for one if yours gets lost. Currently about 74% of our members turn in a pledge card, and we hold out a vision for a day when each household turns one in. The average pledge for 2008 was $1,845, but making a pledge, no matter the amount, is a valuable sign of support.

Thank you thank you!

Your financial contributions are kept strictly confidential. The only people who know what you give are the rector (priest), the stewardship chair, and the pledge clerk.

You will receive statements periodically during the year which outline what you have given and what remains to be given, and at the conclusion of the year you will receive a statement for use with your taxes.

Vehicles for Giving

Gifts can be received in the form of a check, stock, or through your bank via theironline or bill pay banking services.

Making your gift in the form of a CHECK

  1. 1. In the memo section of your check, write "pledge".

2. The check can be placed in the offertory plate during Sunday services.

3. Every January each pledging member will receive pledge envelopes. Your check can be placed in the pledge envelope and then put in the offering plate. The envelopes aren't necessary, but they do come in handy.

4. You can mail your check directly to St. Mary's, attention, Pledge Clerk.

Donating STOCK as your pledge gift

The following DTC transfer instructions are given to the broker or institution who holds your stock certificates:

UBS Financial Services 0221

Account # RP03824

FBO: St. Mary's Episcopal Church/Your Name

It is very important that these instructions include your name, as UBS has no way of knowing who this stock if from for purposes of communicating that information to our pledge clerk. And to insure that the St. Mary's pledge clerk is aware of your donation, simply drop them a note letting them know you have transferred stock for purposes of fulfilling your pledge.

Making your pledge via your banks ONLINE OR BILL PAY services

  1. 1. Go to your bank's website,or your personal banker for instructions on
    how to use this service.

2. You will instruct them as to the amount, the frequency of the payment, and the address of St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

3. A physical check will be received from your bank at St. Mary's depending on the frequency you have selected and will represent the amount you have indicated.

St. Mary's Stewardship Chair or Pledge Clerk is always available to answer any questions you may have regarding your pledge. Simply email the office administrator@saintmarysepiscopal.org and she can connect you with them.
