The Armchair Theologians is a safe place to share your questions, thoughts, and experiences about our spiritual journeys. We do not judge or try to
convince one another; rather, we find community in sharing our ideas openly, and enrichment in learning how the same story can inspire different reactions in different people. Using videos, audio programs, and the Gospel readings, our focus this year will be on exploring our Christian tradition as well as learning to hear those who have beliefs which differ from our own Join us once or many times; we d love to see you.The Armchair Theologians meet from 9 10 AM each Sunday in the St. Mary s Room.

SEPTEMBER

Sept 7: Covenant update- The 2003 consecration of Gene Robinson, an openly gay man in a committed relationship, as an Episcopal Bishop in the United States caused great concern from some members of the worldwide Anglican Church. As a result, the Anglican Communion is considering the development of an Anglican Covenant, a binding statement of common belief to help heal the breach that some feel has been created. The Reverend LeeAnne Watkins will update us on developments from over the summer regarding this covenant process.

Sept 14: Open Sunday- Beth Varro and Carol Anne Wall will lead a discussion of current issues in the church and the world.

Sept 21: Bible Study- Carol Anne Wall will lead us in Gospel Based Discipleship, a discussion technique for reflecting on the Gospel reading of the day and the different meanings it may have for each of us.

Sept 28: MDG Theology- What are the theological foundations of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)? As an aid to the parish-wide discernment scheduled for Oct 5, St. Mary s Justice Committee member Ben Miller will lead us in an informal discussion of where the Gospels and prophetic writings call us to engage in the struggle to end worldwide poverty.
